The 7G-TRONIC 7-speed automatic transmission increases ride comfort with an exceptionally smooth gear change process. The system can also skip individual gears, for example, changing directly from the seventh to the fifth gear, which is especially ideal for overtaking manoeuvres. Together with very short shift times and a low noise level, the 7G-TRONIC significantly increases the driving dynamics and also makes a considerable contribution to reducing fuel consumption.

The electronic parking aid PARKTRONIC monitors the front and rear of the vehicle during manoeuvring and warns the driver if there is a risk of collision. If the system identifies an obstruction, it provides a visual signal. As soon as the distance is less than approx. 35 cm, a short warning sound is emitted. When the vehicle gets even closer (less than approx. 25 cm away) a continuous signal is heard. PARKTRONIC uses this procedure to make parking safe, even with limited space available.

The bi-xenon headlamps provide higher brightness values, a larger range of light and wider illumination of the road surface than conventional headlamps. When the vehicle drives into a turn the system also activates a fog lamp, providing significantly better illumination for the relevant area and improving safety.

Audio 50 APS is the entertainment and navigation centre of the vehicle. All functions can be conveniently operated using the multifunction steering wheel.
The system has a 5-inch TFT colour display, a CD/DVD drive, a telephone keypad and six loudspeakers. The DVD navigation system is equipped with arrow-based navigation for the desired journeys and an automatic traffic monitor (via TMC, the Traffic Message Channel). The drive plays audio CDs and DVDs (also in MP3 format). The Aux-in-connection in the glove compartment enables music to be played from external data devices. In addition the Bluetooth interface with hands-free function allows for phone calls while driving.

COMAND APS is equipped with a hard-disk-based navigation system with map display and a high-resolution 6.5-inch TFT colour display and serves as the central control unit for all telematics components.

The system's entertainment functions include a radio, a CD/ DVD drive with MP3 function, a slot for SD memory cards and MUSIC REGISTER with a 4 GB hard drive for storing digital music data. The Gracenote® database also supplies the album and artist information for CDs and DVDs. An Aux-in connection in the glove compartment provides a connection for external data devices. In addition the Bluetooth interface allows for a connection to a mobile telephone. The LINGUATRONIC voice-operated control system allows for simple control of audio, telephone and navigation functions during the drive.

The Harman Kardon® Logic 7® surround sound system with an output of 450 watts ensures the best entertainment on the road. A total of twelve metal matrix loudspeakers (incl. centre loudspeaker, subwoofer and 2 surround loudspeakers) allow for excellent sound all round.

The media interface is a universal interface in the glove compartment which you can use with various mobile audio and video devices while you're on the road. So for example you can comfortably access a USB stick or your iPod® using the vehicle's control and display units.

The panoramic sliding sunroof provides a bright, welcoming interior atmosphere and a generous view of the sky. Its surface is almost a third larger and its transparent surface is almost twice as large compared to conventional sliding sunroofs. In addition the roller sunblinds block out any unwanted sunlight.
