You can drive the new E-Class particularly efficiently powered by the innovative 4-cylinder petrol engines that are available in the E-Class for the first time. The development objective – more power with less fuel consumption – was pursued rigorously. All engines offer a successful combination of superior agility and high operating efficiency.

4-cylinder petrol engines The optimised 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine powers the new E-Class for the first time and demonstrates impressive peak power and torque. The proven combination of direct injection and turbocharging paired with a further advanced combustion process and on-demand auxiliary systems result in further reduced fuel consumption and emissions. The following models are available to choose from: E 200 and E 250: State-of-the-art technology: Direct petrol injection optimises the fuel-air mixture to deliver virtually complete fuel combustion. Variable valve control ensures optimised cylinder charge efficiency. Reduced engine weight as well as lower internal friction also contribute to reducing both consumption and emission levels. Superb operation and environmental compatibility: The new 4-cylinder petrol engines meet more stringent fuel consumption and emission standards (Euro 6) but still generate outstanding peak values for torque, output and noise reduction. And, thanks to two balance shafts, they deliver smooth operation. Efficiency as standard:The ECO start/stop function is standard on both models.
6-cylinder petrol engines The V6 engines from the BlueDIRECT engine family combine low fuel consumption and correspondingly low CO2 emissions with enhanced dynamic response on a high level. They were developed using lightweight materials throughout and feature stratified petrol injection with piezo injectors, four valves per cylinder as well as adjustable camshafts for the intake and exhaust valves. The following models are available to choose from: E 300, E 300 4MATIC, E 350 and E 350 4MATIC: Comprehensive preservation of resources: The energy efficiency of the auxiliary systems has also been improved. Consequently the V6 engines save fuel, reduce CO2 emissions and enhance smooth running characteristics. Motoring enjoyment at every engine speed: The engines deliver powerful acceleration even at low engine speeds, displaying great refinement over the entire rev range. ECO start/stop function as standard: it reduces fuel consumption and vehicle emissions by switching off the engine when the vehicle is at a standstill. The ECO display in the instrument cluster provides information on the efficiency of one's driving style, thereby motivating the driver to modify his or her driving style to reduce fuel consumption. All-wheel drive:For improved traction on snow, ice, rain and poor roads, both the E 300 and the E 350 are also available with the permanent all-wheel drive system 4MATIC. To the point: downsized displacement, two turbochargers and increased power output with lower emissions and high operating efficiency.
8-cylinder petrol engines This powerplant from the BlueDIRECT engine family offers lower fuel consumption and correspondingly lower emissions than its predecessor. Thanks largely to the lightweight design, downsizing to a displacement of 4.7 litres, direct petrol injection with exceptionally fast and precisely controlled piezo injectors, and the innovative BlueEFFICIENCY technologies. The following models are available to choose from: E 500 and E 500 4MATIC: All-around efficiency: The strategic use of lightweight design and downsizing the displacement resulted in a reduction in fuel consumption of more than 20 per cent compared with the predecessor engine. The BlueDIRECT V8 engine generation is impressive: A multitude of technical highlights such as direct petrol injection, two compact turbochargers and intercooling achieve fast throttle response and optimised thermodynamic efficiency. Systematically powerful: The E 500 and the E 500 4MATIC with BlueDIRECT engine deliver a power output of 300 kW and produce a peak torque of 600 Newton metres. The integrated ECO stop/start system enables you to save fuel when the vehicle is stationary. The function detects when the engine is not required and automatically switches it off.
AMG V8 BITURBO engine The E 63 AMG 4MATIC is powered by an optimised AMG 5.5-litre V8 Biturbo engine with 410 kilowatts of power, which already delivered a strong performance in the predecessor model. The powerful engine delivers superior pulling power already at low engine speeds and exemplary efficiency. Innovative components: the unique combination of high-tech systems, including direct petrol injection, twin turbochargers, energy recuperation when braking and coasting with the Controlled Efficiency drive mode with ECO stop/start function ensures an impressive power range and minimum fuel consumption. Power on a motorsports level: The top-of-the-line E 63 AMG S-Model 4MATIC increases power output to 430 kilowatts with a potent peak torque of up to 800 Newton metres.
