Be one of the first to make a new type of driving pleasure your second nature: the GLE 500 e 4MATIC is the first SUV with a PLUG-IN HYBRID drive system from Mercedes-Benz. This vehicle combines leading-edge electrically-powered driving with the off-roadable vehicle concept for the GLE.
The combined drive configuration of electric drive with an externally chargeable battery and a V6 engine will inspire completely new ways of thinking. You can drive emission-free close to home and experience the agility of a contemporary SUV.
With the 85 kW output [1] of its electric motor, the GLE 500 e 4MATIC can drive up to 30 kilometres purely in electric mode. In so doing, it can reach a top speed of 120 km/h, with local CO2 emissions of zero g/km [2].
If the lithium-ion battery is fully discharged it can be completely recharged from a household power outlet in 4 hours. Then, in combination with the V6 engine, it helps to deliver the GLE's impressive agility: With a system output of 330 kW and 820 Newton-metres[1] of torque, a thrilling performance is assured.
The combination of electric motor and petrol engine allow you, as the driver, to experience a completely new dimension in driving. The GLE 500 e 4MATIC, with its innovative functions, will change all your preconceptions about electrically-powered mobility.
The so-called recuperation uses the kinetic energy when decelerating: the energy harvested in this process is stored and serves to increase the range on electric power.
And the boost function, for example, makes overtaking easier. The V6 petrol engine is supplemented for a short time by the electric motor, and the extra power boosts the forward propulsion of the GLE 500 e 4MATIC.
